  1. This one does NOT disappoint.

    *Spoiler alert*
This drama wasn’t self-written on my list, but I was convinced to watch it after all the popularity and hype. This drama is one of the best I’ve ever watched, hands down. I had high expectations going in, and there’s nothing more satisfying than it living up to the hype. I am in love with every single one of these characters in different ways and every actor did a phenomenal job at bringing their character to life. In this drama, we hear a little about every character but I like that we don’t get too much background information on them, not even Moon Dong-Eun. It’s straight to the point and you’re only shown what you need to know to understand the plot. This show has had me in a chokehold since the very first episode. I love that neither Moon Dong-Eun nor Park Yeon-Jin gets cold feet. Park Yeon-Jin doesn’t regret anything she’s done, and Moon Dong-Eun doesn’t hesitate in her revenge. Since we don’t get to know any of the “villain” characters’ pasts, we are forced to judge them solely based on their actions which I really like for this drama so that the viewer can experience satisfaction from Moon Dung-Eun’s revenge plot without holding sympathy for them. I also really like the romantic angle in this drama and had hope that Moon Dong-Eun and Joo Yeo-Jeong would end up together, although the reality looked different. I was sure that it would be the kind of drama where two people who were right for each other, would meet each other at the wrong points in their lives. I was afraid it was gonna end with them not seeing each other again until the last episode where they would meet by accident after last seeing each other on the train but never picking up where they left off and it would have been an ending alá “what could have been”. Kind of like the Reborn Rich ending or the Lost ending. But thank god it didn’t and that we got to see more of Joo Yeo-Jeong. I cannot stress how much I appreciate that they didn’t just make him a flat character, meaning he’s a cheery golden retriever type who’s never had anything bad happen to him. At first, I actually thought that he had killed someone, but I’ll settle for him wanting to kill someone and I’m happy he also shares some of the same darkness as Moon Dung-Eun making them perfect for each other. Or rather, making them each other’s perfect executioners. Obviously, this drama touches on some really heavy subjects and feelings but it does such a wonderful job at making it beautiful and I’m happy K dramas don’t shy away from stories like these.

In the end, all loose ends were tied and we got closure on all of the characters. Moon Dong-Eun got her revenge and was finally able to move on and let herself be happy. However, had Moon Dong-Eun committed suicide, I think that ending could have been beautiful in its own way too. But definitely bonus points for making a happy ending. I was overjoyed to see Moon Dong-Eun and Joo Yeo-Jeong end up together in the end. This drama ended how it began, with a plan for revenge and Moon Dong-Eun, Kang Hyeon-Nam, and Joo Yeo-Jeong back together. It was almost like restarting the drama but this time Moon Dong-Eun is Joo Yeo-Jeong’s executioner. This ending could be their foot in the door for a third season which would focus on Joo Yeo-Jeong’s story, but I’m okay with it ending this way.

    Rating: 10/10 across the board.

    Such a beautiful masterpiece.

  2. For anyone interested in watching this drama, I suggest you start with knowing as little as possible. It’s a good story, so I can recommend this. Good cast, good production quality, not the best written script but serviceable enough thus far.

For anyone wishing to know more [WARNING FOR MINOR SPOILERS]: This is a story about bullying and revenge. If you are sensitive about certain issues, please beware. This drama is full of triggers, so if you feel uncomfortable, there’s really no reason to pressure yourself. I’m not exaggerating: there are depictions of several sensitive topics and you can’t really skip or ignore them because they’re vital to the characters’ arcs.
Also, this is only half (or one third– not sure how many seasons they have planned) of the story. The last episode doesn’t really close anything; in fact, the pacing is such that I consider these 8 episodes to be just the introduction before the actual plot begins. If you’re an impatient viewer who likes to know how a story ends as soon as possible, then wait for the second season before watching this.
